Mark brings over 33 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Mark began his career in Medicare auditing for Central New York Blue Cross Blue Shield in Syracuse. Mark then moved to Loretto Rest Corporation, a 520-bed nursing home with home care, medical and social day care, and outpatient services as Assistant Controller/Controller. Subsequent to that experience, Mark joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, (PwC) (legacy Coopers & Lybrand) and was promoted to manager in their Healthcare Regulatory Group. While with PwC, Mark prepared and was involved with feasibility studies for over $2 billion in financings. His experience also included numerous business plan preparations, budgets, turnaround engagements, revenue projections, Medicare and Medicaid appeals, cost reports and other third party reimbursement issues.

Subsequent to PwC, Mark became VP of Finance for Health Alliance of CNY (Crouse & Community General Hospitals), and CFO of the Syracuse Community Health Center, one of the nations premiere Federally Qualified Health Centers, increasing cash from $1M to $12M. Since forming M.S. Hall & Associates, LLC, Mark has served as an expert witness in a litigation lawsuit.

Mike Sorber serves as the Chief Operating Officer and a Partner at M.S. Hall + Associates, guiding the firm’s operational structure, technical systems, and organizational development. Since joining the company in 2008, Mike has helped shape the firm’s evolution, contributing to its growth from a two person operation into a multidisciplinary team that now spans data analytics, reimbursement, software development, and client operations.

Mike’s work blends operational leadership with deep technical skill. Before stepping into the COO role in 2018 and being officially named COO in 2023, he built a foundation in IT at Le Moyne College and later worked as a programmer at MEDITECH. He also grew up working in small family businesses, which helped develop his entrepreneurial mindset and practical understanding of how organizations operate. These experiences inform his approach today, including understanding how systems behave, where data breaks down, and how to engineer solutions that scale with the firm’s needs.

His areas of technical and regulatory expertise include Medicare Bad Debts, S-10, NYS HCRA, Medicaid DSH Audits, and both Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports. As the partner responsible for the Data Analytics and Software Development teams, he oversees the infrastructure, workflows, and tools that power the firm’s work, ensuring clarity and consistency across projects.

Mike values work that evolves. He thrives in environments where no two challenges are alike and where solving one problem often reveals the next strategic opportunity. He is particularly energized by developing people, building resilient teams, and structuring operations that allow others to do their best work.

Throughout his career, Mike has helped establish the systems, processes, and leadership pathways that support M.S. Hall + Associates today. He is proud to have contributed to the firm’s steady expansion over nearly two decades and to the collaborative culture that defines the organization.

Mike graduated from Gordon College with a degree in Computer Science. Outside of work he enjoys time with his family, coaching and watching sports with his kids, taking on home projects, and being active in his community. He also comes from a family of small business owners and once ran an ice cream shop and café, an experience that still shapes his practical and service focused approach to leadership.

Jason Allen has been with M.S. Hall + Associates since June of 2015, beginning as a manager and advancing to Vice President and Partner. He oversees the Finance & Reimbursement department while managing client development and maintaining key client relationships. Jason works closely with hospitals to maximize reimbursement through Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, DSH adjustments, interim rates, sole community designations, and critical access hospital projects, both standalone and within networks.

Jason thrives on collaboration and problem solving. He enjoys working side by side with colleagues and clients, navigating the complexities of hospital reimbursement regulations while ensuring compliance and optimizing outcomes. One of his proudest professional accomplishments was assisting a small rural facility in securing a sole community designation, resulting in over $2 million a year in additional reimbursements. This project highlights Jason’s ability to translate technical expertise into meaningful, real-world impact for clients.

Before joining M.S. Hall + Associates, Jason gained extensive experience in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement consulting, including roles as a reimbursement consultant at a regional accounting firm and auditor at a Medicare Audit Contractor (MAC). These experiences cemented his deep knowledge of hospital cost reporting and his commitment to client success.

Jason approaches clients with honesty and directness, emphasizing cohesion and teamwork. He values reliability and authenticity, believing that strong client relationships stem from clear communication and trust. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, hunting, kayaking, making maple syrup, and traveling with his family

With over 18 years of experience in healthcare reimbursement, Scott represents a significant value-add to any project in healthcare finance. Throughout his career, Scott has held various roles which has given him a deep well of direct knowledge from which to draw. These experiences combined with his technical acumen and attention to detail to ensure that when an organization leverages Scott’s expertise, they maximize their financial opportunities.

Scott’s previous role as a Senior Healthcare Consultant at a regional public accounting firm involved him in NYS performance audits for over thirty hospitals. Additionally, Scott has been an Auditor III with National Government Services (NGS) and a Medicare Administrative Contractor. In his time with NGS, Scott became intimately familiar with cost reports and Medicare rates for Academic Health Systems, large acute hospitals, and Critical Access Hospitals, in addition to Medicare Bad Debts and Disproportionate Share (DSH) preparations. There, Scott also coordinated the IRIS database for NY hospitals and played a pivotal role in the J12 transition. Now, at M.S. Hall, Scott is responsible for cost reports, Medicare Low Volume Adjustments, Medicare DSH listings, wage index, New York State hospital rates, third-party reimbursement maximization analyses, rate appeals filings and re-openings, and more. Scott has also been auditing third-party accounts as part of the overall financial statement audits for various NYS healthcare entities.

Scott received a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Business Management from SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome. Scott is also an active member of the Central New York Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Adam joined M.S. Hall and Associates, LLC. in October 2016, as a Financial Analyst. He will be primarily focused on reimbursement and finance. Adam combines a natural curiosity for healthcare and an aptitude for numbers for the betterment of M.S. Hall & Associates, Inc. and their clients.

Adam graduated from Cayuga Community College with his A.S. in Math and Science. He later completed his B.S. in Business Administration, Magna Cum Laude from the University at Buffalo. He actively finds new problems to solve in all facets of life and has a genuine affection for manipulating and organizing numbers. In his free time, he enjoys experimenting with new projects from building computers, welding, painting, botany, and woodworking.

Pamela Cook joined M.S. Hall + Associates in March of 2025, and serves as Director, specializing in Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and audits. She provides expert guidance on provider-based facility implementation, Medicare provider enrollment, and reimbursement strategy, helping hospitals navigate complex reporting requirements while maximizing compliance and accuracy.

Pamela’s approach is highly collaborative, focused on empowering both clients and colleagues to achieve results efficiently and accurately. She takes pride in assisting clients across diverse projects, and her expertise in cost reporting ensures that hospitals can optimize reimbursement opportunities while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Prior to M.S. Hall + Associates, Pamela held leadership roles at Central Maine Health, Baker Newman Noyes, and National Government Services, gaining hands-on experience in cost reporting, audits, and reimbursement management across a variety of healthcare settings. Her professional journey has been defined by reliability, respect, compassion, and collaboration, values she brings to every project and team interaction.

Outside the office, Pamela enjoys traveling and baking. Based in Maine, she embraces a flexible remote work environment while maintaining strong connections with colleagues and clients. Pamela’s dedication, combined with her technical expertise and collaborative approach, makes her a trusted advisor to both her team and the hospitals she serves.

Adam earned a Software Engineering degree from Gannon University and brings over 10 years of software development experience to the MS Hall data team. Prior to joining the team, Adam Pitzer worked as a software engineer for Lockheed Martin where he guided teams through software development cycles while interfacing with various government and civil customers.

Adam adds his software experience to the already outstanding data analytics that M.S. Hall & Associates provides to help deliver effective and innovative solutions both internally and for the companies they partner with. Adam’s contributions can already be seen in the development of metric analysis software that has already begun utilizing Prevention Quality Indicators in concert with revenue loss data for DSRIP customers.

Adam’s primary responsibilities at M.S. Hall & Associates include data analysis and completing Medicare bad debts, cost reports, and DSH Audits, in addition to maintaining and upgrading M.S. Hall’s existing internal software tools. Adam has experience with C, C++, C#, Assembly, Java, PHP, MySQL, as well as a range of other software tools.

As a manager for the reimbursement team at M.S. Hall, Katrina specializes in Medicare and Medicaid projects, including Cost Reports, Medicaid Audits, Wage Index, and Third-Party reports. Katrina earned her B.S. from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University; her professional background is in finance operations and marketing.

Katrina’s attention to detail and robust quantitative approach has made her a key member of the M.S. Hall reimbursement team across the full range of its client projects. Outside the office, Katrina can be found exploring the outdoors, traveling, practicing yoga, and spending time with her family and pets.

As the Office Manager for M.S. Hall + Associates, Jason attends to the behind-the-scenes details that keep the company running smoothly. He works to optimize M.S. Hall’s internal systems, including information security, bookkeeping, vendor onboarding and administration, and much more, all of which allows his colleagues to focus their energies on client success.

Jason has been instrumental in empowering M.S. Hall to maintain surpassing standards of client satisfaction while strengthening its standards for personal safety and data security.

Richard Marshall is an Associate Director at M.S. Hall + Associates, specializing in HCRA projects and Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement. Since joining the firm in May 2016, Richard has advanced through the ranks from Data Analyst to Senior Data Analyst and now to Associate Director, serving as the lead for HCRA audit support, monthly submissions, and client reviews.

Richard brings expertise in HCRA, Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports, Medicaid Bad Debts, and audit support, ensuring accurate and compliant reporting for multiple clients. He approaches his work with humility and a focus on continuous learning, blending technical precision with collaborative problem-solving to support both clients and colleagues.

Prior to joining M.S. Hall + Associates, Richard gained experience as an IT Specialist and Data Support professional across several organizations, building a foundation in systems and data management that enhances his analytical capabilities. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Management and Technology from Syracuse University.

Richard is recognized for his integrity, compassion, and humor, and enjoys contributing to the firm’s culture while delivering meaningful client solutions.

Lisa brings a wealth and depth of reimbursement knowledge to the M.S. Hall team. She has worked in healthcare for 8 years and joins us from hospital healthcare, where she actively contributed to revenue optimization as a Reimbursement Accountant. Lisa excels in achieving positive outcomes by identifying billing and collection opportunities which increase cash inflows. She has extensive experience in contract review, claims analysis, contract modeling, CDM review, and regulatory filings such as the HFCAP, PGP, cost reports, DSH audits and Form 990.

Prior to working in healthcare, Lisa worked in the public accounting sector, focusing on the preparation of tax returns for various corporate entities. She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Le Moyne College.

 

Joining the M.S. Hall data team as an analyst in January of 2021, Baylie brings a keen, careful eye informed by software design and testing to the firm. Baylie received his B.A. in Computer Science from Le Moyne College alongside a minor in Math and Economics. His natural curiosity and experience with Kaizen principles of process improvement means that Baylie always brings a fresh perspective to the data team’s projects, enabling creative approaches toward solving some of our client’s toughest challenges.

Baylie contributes to numerous ongoing projects at M.S. Hall, including software audits and updates, system redesign, software development and testing, as well as bug testing.

Outside of work, Baylie enjoys time at the gym, playing golf, and hanging out with his dog Zeus.

Robert Lyall is a Senior Financial Analyst at M.S. Hall + Associates who thrives at the intersection of technical precision and human connection. Since joining the firm in January 2021, Robert has focused on Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, cost report audits, and interim rate calculations for Critical Access Hospitals, helping hospitals optimize reimbursements and make strategic financial decisions.

What Robert enjoys most about his work is seeing the tangible impact of his analyses on the hospitals he serves—enabling them to allocate resources effectively and continue providing quality care to their communities. He values working collaboratively, both with clients and his internal team, building trust and relationships along the way. For Robert, problem-solving isn’t just about numbers—it’s about understanding the people behind the data and ensuring they feel informed and empowered throughout the process.

Outside of work, Robert enjoys golfing, traveling, cooking, and watching films. He draws inspiration from his hobbies and experiences, bringing curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm to his professional projects every day.

Jenn Johnston joined M.S. Hall + Associates in April 2022 as a Data Analyst and was promoted to Senior Data Analyst in September 2024. She brings exceptional attention to detail and a talent for root cause analysis to every project she works on, particularly excelling in Medicare Bad Debts, Bad Debt Audits, HCRA Reporting, DSH Audits, and Cost Report Preparation.

Jenn thrives in a culture of collaboration and shared purpose, where every team member is committed to getting the job done and supporting one another. She finds deep satisfaction in uncovering every possible reimbursement opportunity for hospitals, knowing that her work directly supports facilities that care for their communities. Her approach blends empathy and collaboration with a results-driven mindset, ensuring that solutions are both thoughtful and effective.

Jenn earned her Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Le Moyne College and continually pursues growth opportunities, including certifications in Power BI and Tableau. Outside of work, she expresses her creativity through drawing and painting, finding balance and inspiration in artistic pursuits. With a dedication to integrity, excellence, and teamwork, Jenn is a trusted and inspiring partner to both colleagues and clients alike.

Tianci joined M.S. Hall + Associates in January 2023 and has quickly become a trusted contributor on a variety of projects, including Medicare Bad Debts, Medicare/Medicaid Cost Reports, Medicaid DSH, and S-10 audits. Known for analyzing data at scale across multiple sources, Tianci is often recognized by colleagues as the “Black Hole for Problems,” someone who can be relied on to tackle complex challenges.

Tianci was promoted to Senior Data Analyst in July 2024, just two years after joining as a new graduate, highlighting both skill and dedication. He takes pride in his projects, ensuring accuracy and insightful analysis for clients.

Tianci holds a Master of Science in Information Management from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. His approach to clients and colleagues is results-oriented, data-driven, precise, and proactive, grounded in honesty, responsibility, adaptability, self-motivation, and patience.

Stephanie Richio joined M.S. Hall + Associates in May 2023 as a Senior Financial Analyst, providing Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement services to hospitals, rural health clinics, nursing homes, and home health agencies. She brings expertise in cost reports, audits, and third-party reimbursement reviews, ensuring that every engagement is precise, reliable, and client-focused.

Stephanie thrives in collaborative environments, valuing teamwork and the chance to support both her clients and colleagues. She enjoys the satisfaction of helping healthcare organizations navigate complex reimbursement challenges, delivering solutions that have a real impact on their financial health and operational success. Stephanie holds a B.S. from Clemson University and brings a professional ethos grounded in collaboration and continuous improvement. Working remotely from Portland, ME, she balances her professional responsibilities with a passion for exploration, creativity, and well-being.

Enya Tan joined M.S. Hall + Associates in January 2024 as a Data Analyst, bringing her analytical skills and enthusiasm for problem-solving to a variety of complex healthcare projects. She works across hospital systems to collect, transform, and validate data from diverse sources, including EHR systems, claims, and financial platforms, ensuring accuracy through rigorous internal and external audits. Enya thrives on collaboration, contributing to projects such as Medicare Bad Debts and Audits, Medicare S-10, Medicaid DSH Audits, HCRA Audits, and Public Goods Surcharge reporting.

Vicky joined M.S. Hall + Associates in January 2024 and has quickly become an integral part of the team. She works on a variety of projects including Bad Debt, Medicaid DSH audits, HCRA reporting, and other critical hospital financial analyses.
Vicky is passionate about health data analytics and enjoys collaborating with her colleagues on projects that make a meaningful impact for hospitals. She takes pride in supporting Medicaid DSH and Bad Debt audits that improve efficiency and drive better outcomes for clients.

Before joining M.S. Hall + Associates, Vicky worked as a Quality Control Analyst at ICON PLC. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Health Informatics from Rutgers University and holds a Master of Science in Biomedical and Health Informatics, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Applied Statistics from SUNY Oswego.

Her approach to working with clients is collaborative, solution-oriented, and efficient, with a focus on clear communication and teamwork to deliver accurate results. Grant Colerick joined M.S. Hall + Associates in March 2025 as a Financial Analyst, where he focuses on cost report workpapers, third-party workpapers, and interim rate calculations. Grant specializes in Excel, financial modeling, variance analysis, and financial statement analysis, bringing both precision and strategic insight to every project.

What Grant enjoys most about his work is the opportunity to solve complex problems while collaborating with a team he respects and enjoys. He finds fulfillment in improving processes, reformatting workpapers, and making meaningful contributions to projects that impact hospital financial reporting. His approach with clients and colleagues is collaborative, efficient, and strategic, ensuring that every project is executed thoughtfully and effectively.

Grant earned his B.S. in Business Economics and Finance from Utica University and an M.S. in Finance from Penn State University. He is certified in Financial Modeling and Valuation Analysis through the Corporate Finance Institute, and he values continuous learning and professional growth.

Outside of work, Grant enjoys following the Houston Rockets and Philadelphia Eagles, gaming, music, and spending time with friends. His blend of analytical skill, teamwork, and curiosity makes him a trusted partner for both his clients and his colleagues, as he navigates complex financial challenges with clarity and care.

William McWhorter joined M.S. Hall + Associates in June 2025 as a Data Analyst, bringing a passion for data analytics, visualization, and machine learning to support healthcare reimbursement projects. His work focuses on Medicare Bad Debts, DSH audits, and HCRA reports, where he ensures data is accurate, complete, and ready for reporting.

William enjoys collaborating with his colleagues and contributing to solutions that improve processes and outcomes. He approaches his work with careful attention to detail, a supportive attitude, and a commitment to learning. His analytical skills are complemented by his strong interpersonal approach, making him a reliable and approachable team member.

He holds a Master of Science in Data Science from Indiana University, and his professional values emphasize collaboration, reliability, and open-mindedness. Outside of work, William enjoys frisbee golf, hiking, and baking, finding ways to apply the same focus and curiosity from his work to his personal interests.

Yashita Vajpayee joined M.S. Hall + Associates in June 2025 as a Data Analyst, quickly establishing herself as a reliable and inquisitive team member. In her role, she works across multiple hospital systems to pull, clean, and validate data for projects such as Medicare Bad Debt, Medicaid DSH, and monthly HCRA reporting. She takes pride in troubleshooting variances, reconciling issues, and ensuring that data is accurate, organized, and ready for reporting.

What Yashita enjoys most is the opportunity to learn about different hospital systems and the data flows within them. She loves solving problems, uncovering the “why” behind discrepancies, and collaborating closely with colleagues to arrive at solutions. Her approach to her work is collaborative, curious, and detail-oriented, and she values clear communication and teamwork to achieve the best results.

Yashita holds a Master of Science in Data Science from Stevens Institute of Technology and is particularly skilled in Excel, SQL, and applying these tools to complex reimbursement workflows. Outside of work, she enjoys painting, exploring new places on weekends, table tennis, and trying new cafés. She also has a flair for freehand painting and is known for picking up new skills quickly, both creative and professional.

Nova Doolittle joined M.S. Hall + Associates in August 2025 as a Developer, where they design and maintain software that supports healthcare finance and reimbursement projects. Nova brings expertise in systems programming and backend development, working with languages and platforms including C/C++/C#, PHP, MySQL, MongoDB, and Java.

Noah Schnauffer is a Financial Analyst at M.S. Hall + Associates, contributing to the firm’s Cost Reporting and special project work since joining in October 2025. With a strong foundation in financial analysis and a background shaped by his time at Epic Systems in Wisconsin, Noah brings both analytical precision and a thoughtful, collaborative mindset to every engagement.

Noah’s academic path — a double major in Mathematics and Economics from SUNY Cortland — reflects the curiosity and quantitative discipline he brings into his work. He enjoys partnering with colleagues and clients in a way that feels strategic, supportive, and straightforward, always working toward solutions that genuinely move projects forward.

Outside the office, Noah is someone who values connection and exploration. He loves traveling, catching a good game, and spending meaningful time with friends and family. Those interests shape how he shows up professionally as well: grounded, easy to work with, and motivated by shared success.
